He used a Nintendo DS Lite running Electroplankon, a DSi running Korg DS-10, an iPhone, an iPod Touch and a Kaossilator. Well not much to say about results but the possibilities are endless! You could set up a whole series of ipods at a party! The splitter comes at a price of $20 and it is certainly better than emptying your pocket on an expensive mixer.

LaCie launches high capacity network storage devices

LaCie has launched two new high capacity NAS solutions – the Big Disk Network and d2 Network. The d2 Network supports up to 1.5TB capacity, while the Big Disk Network combines two drives in a RAID 0 setting, for up to 4TBs of storage. Both units support workgroup environments for up to 50 users and that too 15 users at a time and network administrators can choose from various security levels for user profiles, groups, and public or guest access. An external USB drive can be connected to increase security through scheduled backups and also for expanding capacity. The d2 Network also includes an eSATA connection for storage expansion. Both supports Apple’s Time Machine backup software and come with the LaCie Network Assistant for easy set up, back up and administration. Both storage devices has an aluminum body with a heat sink design that offers natural heat dissipation by providing 60% more surface area. The LaCie NAS solutions are available now, with prices starting at USD$189.99 for the d2 Network and USD$379.99 for the Big Disk Network.

Apple’s patent application hints at iTunes Kiosk

If Apple decides to work more on the recent patent application, we could be soon seeing Apple iTune Kiosks for local and remote media downloading in public areas such as airports, malls, hotels and even public transportation. Consumers who are always on the run can browse selective and popular media from these kiosks. They can then purchase and download the content into their handsets after swiping their credit card. It does sound simple but there are drawbacks like connectors could be worn out, tampered and Wi-Fi spots could get hacked or overloaded.

Call of Duty on the Silver Screen

Activision is really busy these days. They are negotiating to translate Guitar Hero game into a reality TV series and also they have other surprises up their sleeves. The video game company has set up deals for a World of Warcraft picture and even a Call of Duty movie! The game series seeks to represent American, Soviet and British perspectives, a blend which is unusual in typical war pictures and could make for an interesting underlying premise to the adaptation. Well, whether this will sky rocket weekly earnings at the box office or will it be a nuke disaster is yet to be seen. But since I am a diehard fan of Call of Duty, I am certainly hitting the theaters for this movie! Wonder if anyone will be interested in filming the StarCraft game?

Harmon Kardon BDP-10 is its first Blu-Ray player

Harmon Kardon will soon release its first Blu-ray player christened as the BDP-10. This device will have BonusView and BD-Live capability, which will allow users to view extra online content associated with certain Blu-ray movies. The player will also have advanced audio codec support and will play back 1080/24p videos without pulldown conversion. It can also display JPEG photos and DiVX videos burned on discs from external USB drives. Sound cool isn’t it! Connections include an HDMI 1.3a with x.v.Color output, component and RCA video outputs, an Ethernet jack, coaxial and optical audio outputs as well as traditional two-channel analog audio output.
The BDP-10 will cost around $940 in Europe when the player is expected to be released sometime in May. North America will see the player launched soon after that but that hasn’t been announced yet. Looks like we will have to wait for a while.

Nokia XpressMusic 5900 leaked?

Leaked pics and details start pouring in much before the release of a popular product. We have got some leaked pics of the upcoming Nokia XpressMusic 5900 and the pictures seem to be legit. When compared to its predecessor the 5800, it has a larger 3.5 inch display, 5 Megapixel camera, and more or less the same build of S60 5th edition all enclosed in a slightly thinner case. Thats the only information available for now. We will keep you updated.

$500 billion space station colony design wins NASA contest

A spinning, cylindrical-shaped structure with the ability to hold 10,000 residents was named the winner of an annual NASA competition which was the brainwork of a Toronto high school student. Eric Yam, a 12th grade student in Toronto’s Northern Secondary School took the grand prize making him the first Canadian to win such an award. The space colony Asten, named after the Egyptian god of balance is 1.6 kilometer-high structure made up of a series of habitation rings stuck in the shape of a cylinder. The entire structure rotates on its axis, simulating Earth-like gravity for its inhabitants. Yam's plan calls for 15 years of planning followed by 12 years of construction and another three years to make the settlement habitable. His estimated cost to build the station is $563 billion US.
The project even shows how the society on the station would work and borrows heavily from Canadian policies, including adoption of a tax regime based on the Canadian income tax system and deciding who lives on the station based a point system modeled on Canada's immigration policy. The contest is co-sponsored by the NASA Ames Research Center and the U.S.-based National Space Society and is for students from ages 11 to 18 from around the world, with two age categories for the contest.
